The Problem

In many parts of the world, laundry remains a labor-intensive chore. Traditional methods—scrubbing clothes with rocks, sticks, or washboards, or hauling water from distant sources—consume hours of backbreaking effort.

The term “washing machine” typically refers to machines that use water, as opposed to dry cleaning methods. Users are usually required to add laundry detergent—either in liquid or powder form—into the wash water contained in the receptacle, then operate the machine by agitating the clothes back and forth with an agitator.

Traditionally, hand laundering involves soaking, beating, scrubbing, and rinsing dirty textiles to remove dirt. Water is often fetched from a pump, well, or stream and carried to the washing point, or washing is done by the river. After rinsing, the clothes are wrung out by hand to extract excess water. This entire process can take a significant portion of the day, plus additional time for drying. This “WASHER” is a manually operated, non-electric laundry device that simplifies the washing process. It works by allowing clothes to soak in soapy or hot water (if preferred), then using the pendulum agitator to swish the clothes back and forth for a few minutes. A normal load is finished in this manner!

The Solution

The Liberal Washer is a non-electronic laundry device designed to ease the burden of manual washing. It uses modern washing machine principles to clean clothes quickly and gently through a simple, ergonomic design—all without electricity.

It is designed to ease the drudgery of daily laundering, particularly in regions where electricity is unreliable or unavailable. It is particularly useful in third-world or developing countries where washing machines are not common, and electricity is often scarce.

Our washer has been proven to clean clothes more effectively than other hand washers. It accommodates loads of approximately 3kg to 4kg and is built to save time, reduce strain on the back and spine, and provide users with more time for other chores. Clothes come out cleaner, and the process is far quicker than traditional hand-washing.

The washer is gentle on clothes and operates using the same principles as modern electric washing machines, but without the need for electricity.

It is Molded out from plastic(pp) that has been infused with fiber resin and comes in a variety of colors to suit your preferences. It is ideal for large families, schools, and nursing mothers.
